For joining this department of Navy, you can do G. P Rating, 4 Months Pre-Sea Training. After completion of training you have to complete 3 years Onboard Training/Sea Service as Engine Rating and apply for 3rd Mate Exam, after qualifying join as 3rd Engineer or 4th Engineer. You can also do marine engineering 4 years degree courses after this you can directly join 4th Engineer.

The ranking of this department is: Chief Engineer - Second Engineer - Third Engineer - Fourth Engineer - Engine Rating.

 

 

DECK DEPARTMENT 

For joining this department of Navy, you can do G. P Rating, 4 Months Pre-Sea Training. After completion of training you have to complete 3 years Onboard Training as Deck Rating and apply for 3rd Mate Exam, after qualifying join as 3rd Officer. You can also do 3 years degree course BSc. Nautical Science or 1-year diploma course DNS. After BSc. Nautical Science you have to complete 12 Months Onboard Training/Sea Service for 2nd Mate Exam, or after DNS you have to complete 24 moths Sea Service (12Months+12 Months on different vessels) for 2nd Mate Exam. For joining this department of Navy, you have to take a course of BSc. Nautical Science. This is a 3 or 4 years degree. After completion of this degree, you can join this department of Navy. Therefore, this is the best department with high salary in the Merchant Navy.

PETTY OFFICERS DEPARTMEMT

You can also join the Navy as ETO (Electro-Technical Officer). If you have a background in electrical engineering, then you can easily join.

The ranking of this department: Electro Technical Officer, Electrical Officer, Fitter Welder, Pumpman & Wiper.

 

 

SALOON DEPARTMENT

For joining this department of Navy, you should have cleared the 10th or 12th examination. You can complete 4 months short term course of Saloon Rating. The jobs offered are of Steward or Assistant Cook and will be promoted to Chief Cook and many other. Therefore, this is one of the best departments of Merchant Navy.  People can easily join this department on the basis of their skills.
